The ketogenic diet was invented during the 1920s to help epileptic patients control seizures. It is a very fat, low carb diet. "Keto diet is a metabolic condition that occurs when most of the body's energy comes from ketone bodies in the blood, rather than glucose, which is obtained by eating carbohydrate foods. Looking at how it feels, both physically and mentally, and its effect on the body, being in ketosis is very different from a "glycolytic state" where blood glucose (sugar) is the body's energy source. Many people are considering burning ketones as a "cleaner you way to stay energetic compared to running carbohydrates and sugars on a day-to-day basis. Another important benefit of the Keto diet is that there is no need to count calories, get hungry, or try to burn caloric loads during intense exercise hours. At the core of the ketogenic diet and the keto diet, it severely restricts the intake of all or most of the foods, sugar, and starch (carbohydrates). These foods are broken down into the blood sugar (insulin and glucose) as soon as we eat them, and if these levels are too high, extra calories are stored more easily as body fat, resulting in unwanted weight gain. However, when glucose levels are interrupted by a low-carb diet, the body begins to burn instead of fat and produces ketones that can be measured in the blood.
