BOOK EXCERPT:

“Best book of the year!” Said a man who subscribes to... The New York Times You need to give yourself more credit! Remember that great idea you gave up on? The idea people called, crazy? Bad news for you, I took it and made a fortune! Well, actually, I made your fortune. I just get to keep the money! Because that’s what I do, I talk you out of your best ideas and then I cash them in. So here’s a tip: Stop listening to negative advice, and start believing in your own thinking for change. Who am I to give you advice? I’m that pesky “spirit of doubt” and I’ve cost you a fortune. It’s not exactly the gig I was hoping for back when I walked in your same shoes, and trust me, you don’t want it either! So start believing that your thoughts have value and that your dreams, matter. It’s time to knock the dust off your ambition and then get ready, because your life is about to go for a ride. One final note: The contents of this book will stick in your mind like super-glue to your fingers, so remember, you’ve been warned! Fact or fiction? You can decide for yourself. But keep an aspirin handy just in case. www.robertbakkeministries.com

BOOK EXCERPT:

This story is about a day in the life of a boy named David, who has lots of trouble keeping track of his 'PANTS'. Every morning when he wakes up his 'PANTS' never seem to be where he left them the night before. So every day David goes on a new search looking for his 'PANTS', never knowing if he will find them before he has to leave for school. During todays search he interacts with neighbors and assorted critters around his house hoping one of them know where his 'pants' might be. About the author: Many years ago David Hartwick was run over by a car while riding his bicycle and was badly injured. The car drove away and left him on the side of the road. He received a terrible brain injury that, even today, gives him problems. He had to relearn to read, spell, write, talk, and walk all over again. He started relearning to read again one word at a time. He began reading kindergarten books, then first grade books, then second grade books, and so on. There were times when he thought he would never recover but he never quit or gave up. One of the exercises he did to help his brain recover was to write stories. He's written over 200 stories during the years of his recovery. He is now turning some of them into books like this one. "There may be some of you kids out there that have been injured or maybe you were born with something that causes you problems. If you have a brain injury I am here to tell you that the brain is an amazing thing. It can fix itself but you have to help it to do so. I say to all of you kids, DO NOT QUIT AND NEVER STOP TRYING, and to all moms and dads please don't let them quit or stop trying. If you are an adult and are reading this book to help yourself, GOOD FOR YOU, DON'T QUIT because if I had quit or stopped trying you would not be reading this book." David G. Hartwick

BOOK EXCERPT:

Basecamp founders Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson explore the "work from home" phenomenon and show precisely how a remote work setup can be accomplished in Remote. The Industrial Revolution's "under one roof" model of conducting work is steadily declining as technology creates virtual workspaces that allow employees to provide their vital contribution without physically clustering together. Today, the new paradigm is "move work to the workers, rather than workers to the workplace." Remote work increases the talent pool, reduces turnover, lessens the real estate footprint, and improves the ability to conduct business across multiple time zones, to name just a few advantages. As Fried and Hansson explain the challenges and unexpected benefits of this phenomenon, they show why--with a few controversial exceptions such as Yahoo--more businesses will want to promote this model of getting things done.

It is told through the eyes and voice of Katherine; she seeks understanding of people close to her. Misunderstandings produce anger, hatred, apathy, and a lack of compassion. Katherine wishes to rid herself of this negativity which creates bondage and which has the potential to destroy her, injure others, or even drive her to commit a murder. After many years, she gains insight into her fellow, human beings. She understands. She sees more clearly but not without the aid of others. She discovered she couldn’t accomplish serenity and acceptance on her own.
