BOOK EXCERPT:

Rob Bell’s book, Love Wins, has generated a national conversation about ultimate issues, such as the nature of hell, heaven, and the ultimate destiny of humankind. Yet, the book has also created unnecessary confusion. God Wins is a response to the provocative questions Love Wins has raised. In God Wins, Mark Galli explores the important questions that are left unasked and the issues left uncharted. Mark shows how Love Wins is not enough—and that there is even better news for our world. Includes a group-discussion guide with relevant Scripture passages.

BOOK EXCERPT:

The God Who Kneels is a meditative journey in John 13. The Apostle John opens the door and invites us into the upper room to relive the words and actions of Jesus. He writes us into the scene and gives us a seat at the table. On Thursday night, Jesus gave his followers two simple object lessons during the evening meal. He washed their feet and he broke bread. These two enduring acts go a long way in defining the mission of God and the body of Christ. They merge real hospitality and deep sacrament. The towel and the basin, and the bread and the cup, signify the essence of Jesus's kingdom strategy. The disciples missed the meaning of Jesus's message the first time around. Like them we need a fresh experience of the upper room to grasp the Savior's humility and glory. Less than twenty-four hours before the crucifixion Jesus offered his disciples a vivid parable of the atonement and a true picture of discipleship. This forty-day Lenten series is a close reading of the biblical text revealing the significance of the God who kneels for today's discipleship.

BOOK EXCERPT:

This book represents my attempt and my exhortation to others to step back from the trees in order to see the forest. I believe we human beings were built to win. I believe we were fashioned in eternity, complete with built-in corrections for the flaws that would develop in the time realm because of the free radical of free will. I believe, therefore, that the flaws and sins of humankind have been accounted for and provided for from before the foundation of the world. All sins and their consequences—from serial murder to self-murder; from heinous tortures, rapes, racism, and wars to all diseases and every sickness, whether physical, mental, or religious—were laid on Jesus and borne away. The most important phrases Jesus uttered from the cross were, “Father, forgive them,” and “It is finished.” He spoke those words as He died the most horrible, unfair, and undeserved death any man could suffer. He was holy, just, and good. He died for us—the unholy, the unjust, and the un-good—and yet He said, “Father, forgive them.”

BOOK EXCERPT:

Why do so many of God’s followers seem to prefer their boxed-in religion over God? Listen to their rhetoric and you might wonder how a Supreme Being could be so narrow and small, so angry and unattractive. It’s time to start over with an honest conversation instead of a box. If God does exist, there should be some clear indications of his being. And if humans bear God’s image, as the Bible indicates, then we should be able to connect with God on some level. This book is about God, not religion. It’s about questions more than watertight answers. It’s about the experience of God more than it is about incontrovertible evidence that he exists. God can’t be seen, but he can be found. And while he can’t be fully explained, he can be known and experienced. Religious boxes have a way of blinding us to spiritual reality. So this dialogue is all God, no box. Are you ready? From the Trade Paperback edition.

"You live in a war zone." In Freedom Fighter, author Ken Wilson pulls back the curtain on the most important war ever fought: The Universal War on Terror. This war is happening right now, all around you. It's a war being fought for the hearts and minds of every person on this planet. It's a war about God. The main questions in Freedom Fighter are: What kind of person is God? Can we trust him? How does he relate to this universal war and those involved? What is he fighting for? The answers to these questions might shock you. Don't expect this to be like any other book you've read about God. You may be surprised to learn that evidence points to a God who is not like he has sometimes been described--even by Christians. You may find a God who is better than you ever imagined. At the very least, you will see God as the beautiful, courageous, and intensely personal Friend who created you to be free.
