BOOK EXCERPT:

Money can make you happy. Or not. It all depends on you. Most money decisions are bad. They're made without critical thinking. Stupid is normal these days when it comes to money. People just keep paying without thinking until the stress wears them out. Wouldn't it be better to Think For Yourself? Stop doing what everyone else does and start making better money decisions. Your money can make you happy if you know how to use it. This is not the same advice you get everywhere else. This is for when you realize all that commonly repeated BS is not what's best for you. It's your money. You don't have to do what everyone else does. Why not Think For Yourself and choose your own course? This book will give you a real world understanding of money. Some people call it "street smart." Whatever you call it, you will make better decisions because reality makes a better foundation. For example; When did qualifying for a mortgage become the guide for buying a house? That's just stupid... read our book and you'll understand the reality. How about budgeting? Expense tracking sounds smart and the apps are easy to write, so you get plenty of advice to do it. But wouldn't you rather budget simply and effectively? That's how you make your life better instead of wasting time. And investing? You don't really think anyone playing at home beats Wall Street, do you? Wall Street is more profitable than ever, for themselves and not for you. If you're playing their game then you are just paying their salaries. Think for Yourself and invest where you get the best real returns. Our books use critical thinking to make life better. And when you think critically about money, you get different answers from the rest of the herd. We Simplify and we keep it fun. Money is just another tool we use to live. Once you understand it, money is just another hammer in the toolbox. Why not spend a couple of hours with us and be wealthier for the rest of your life? You already know that's a good investment. Read now and be smarter with your money forever. HGJ

BOOK EXCERPT:

PRAISE FOR JOEL NELSON AND “STUPID OR LIAR” "Not for the ideologically or politically correct, nor for those who think they already understand trading and investing. In between possibly offensive anecdotes are trading insights seldom found in the same place." - Charles Faulkner, Market Wizard & Trading Coach “Joel's book is a great overview of the trading and investing industry as a whole. His comments and research on what it truly means to be diversified should be read by every investor and financial advisor in the industry. With so many daily distractions and misrepresentations on what it takes to be a consistent money manager of your personal or your client's assets, this book will give you the truth about the industry and a guideline for how you should trade and allocate your assets going forward.” - Kyle Ferguson, President - Jones Commodities Inc - Commodity Trading since 1984 “If you are intent on following the herd, then don't read this book. But if you think for yourself and make your own investment decisions, then reading Joel Nelson's advice is well worth the time. So read this book carefully and you can't help but become a better investor...” - John Sherriff, former CEO - Enron Europe & Head Natural Gas Trader, author of Risk, Decisions and Bets for Investors, Traders and Entrepreneurs "Stupid or Liar" offers some wonderful and alternative hypotheses to "how things work" in alternative investing. This book will make you re-think what you think you know." - Zhao, private investor, private equity, alternative investments - Hong Kong & China. “Stupid or Liar” sums up what many of my fellow conspiracy theorist have been asking for years: how can intelligent people in power make such misleading statements to the public? They are totally lying. But why? Because they must be in on it! In the end, it is always about control of money, power and people. The easiest way to control all these things is to control information and truth. That is why transparency is the apocalypse of the current system... and this book is as transparent as it gets...” - Jonathan Toth - musician & political activist "With brutal honest, Joel examines investment theories, eloquently explains them using fun analogies, exposes the truth about investing and financial advisors, and offers new, insightful ways of acquiring wealth..." - Lucie Zdenkova, MBA CPA former financial advisor ABOUT “STUPID OR LIAR” Why does the human brain react the same during sex as during market bubbles? Why is flipping a coin a better bet than trusting a financial advisor? What can prostitutes teach us about portfolio management? Why is Warren Buffett a Liar? Stupid or Liar challenges traditional investment beliefs and shows the dangerous consequences - to our investments and our society - when so many who think they are right...are actually so very wrong. Nelson pulls no punches while showing the reader the fallacy and hypocrisy of cherished investment sacred cows, ranging from Long Term Capital Management, what you thought you knew about diversification, Modern Portfolio Theory, Warren Buffet and Nobel Prize winning economists. Irreverent and articulate, Nelson ambitiously - and successfully disproves - the commonly believed, “Efficient Market Hypothesis”. Nelson introduces a replacement theory that more accurately explains real world marker mechanics, called the “Feedback Loop Market Hypothesis”. Startling, gritty, and crammed with financial fact, fiction, personal success and failures, “Stupid or Liar?”, leaves the reader, wiser, feeling braver and surprising uplifted.

BOOK EXCERPT:

I met Bob Doroghazi when he dropped the first draft of his manuscript of The Physician’s Guide to Investing: A Practical Approach to Building Wealth at my office. I will have to admit I was a bit skeptical: a physician writing a book on investments? During that first meeting with Bob, it became evident that he had been a successful physician and a successful investor, so I agreed to take a look at the book. I was in for a pleasant surprise. Bob’s manuscript was easy to read and had specific advice useful to physicians, interspersed with lots of practical tidbits for any investor. Having written three college-level finance and investment texts, I was excited to be in on a project aimed at offering practical investment advice to a more general, yet specialized, audience. I had high expectations for the book and am pleased to say that I believe Bob has delivered a book that every physician interested in building wealth and protecting assets should read. Bob is a straight shooter; he tells it like he sees it in his book. Some doctors might be indignant on reading his statements, such as “Physicians sometimes have no idea of their limitations. This type of arrogance and ego can result in investing disaster.” However, if you do have these limitations (and most professionals, even college professors, do), then reading Bob’s book will help you recognize situations in which they can lead to poor investment decisions.
